Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 October 2026

This policy explains what personal data Nili collects when you find parties, book tickets, host events and meet other guests, what we do with it, who can see it and the choices you have. We don't sell your personal data.

1. Who we are

Nili runs Nili and is responsible for your personal data as a Data Fiduciary under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act). This policy applies to the Nili website and app. It doesn't cover a host's or venue's own handling of data at their events.

2. What we collect

What you give us

  • Account details: your name, email address and password, or your Google account details if you sign in with Google.
  • Profile details you choose to add: phone number, profile photo, bio, Instagram handle and city.
  • Booking details: the parties you book, the tickets and tiers you choose, promo codes, and the name, email and phone number on each ticket.
  • Invite requests: for invite-only parties, the answers you give the host and the Instagram profile you share with them.
  • Messages and connections: who you poke and match with, the messages you send in one-to-one chats, and the people you block.
  • Hosting details: party listings, posters and photos, ticket tiers, promo codes, door staff you add, and contact details for your event.
  • At parties with bar service: your orders and tab, and when you confirmed you're of legal drinking age before ordering alcohol.
  • Host payouts: the reference to your payout account with Razorpay, whether your PAN is verified there, your GSTIN if you're GST registered, your instant payout choice, and the payouts we've sent you with their deductions. Your bank details and KYC documents are collected and held by Razorpay, not by us.
  • Party mode: orders you place and service calls you make at a live party, and the spot in the venue you pick so staff can find you. Your avatar's look and your party-mode missions and XP are kept on your device, not on our servers.
  • Support: anything you send us when you get in touch.

What we get when you use Nili

  • Usage: pages and parties you view, saved parties, your cart, and when you were checked in at the door.
  • Device and log data: browser and device type, IP address, and error logs that help us fix problems.
  • Camera: only if you scan tickets at the door, and only to read QR codes. We don't record or keep the video.

We don't collect your device's precise location. The city you set and the venue spot you choose in party mode are the only location details we hold. When a host types a party address, we suggest matching addresses in India. If the host lets their browser share its location, it is rounded to about a kilometre on their device, used only to show nearby suggestions first, and not stored. Only the address the host saves is kept, with the party.

Venue partners

When a venue lists with Nili, we keep the name, phone number and email of its contact person and our commercial terms with the venue. Only our team sees these; hosts and guests see the venue's public details (name, address, services, offers and menu).

Payments

Payments are handled by Razorpay. We receive the order and payment reference, the amount and whether it succeeded or was refunded. We never receive or store your full card number, CVV, UPI PIN or bank login.

3. How we use it

  • To run your account and sign you in.
  • To sell and issue tickets, take payments, send tickets and receipts, and handle cancellations, refunds and transfers.
  • To let hosts and their door staff check you in and manage their guest list.
  • To show you to other guests and let you poke, match and chat, if you choose to be visible.
  • To show parties near you and ones you might like.
  • To keep Nili safe: preventing fraud, ticket touting, spam and abuse, and enforcing our Terms and Community Guidelines.
  • To understand how Nili is used and improve it, mostly with aggregated data.
  • To meet legal duties, such as tax and accounting records, and to respond to lawful requests from authorities.
  • To send you service messages about your bookings. We'll only send marketing if you've agreed to it, and you can opt out at any time.

We process your data with your consent, which you give when you sign up and use these features, or where the DPDP Act allows it without consent, such as when you've shared data for a specific purpose like a booking, or to comply with the law.

4. What other people can see

Other guests

If a host turns on the guest list, other ticket holders for that party can see your first name, the initial of your last name, your profile photo and your bio. Never your email or phone number. You can hide yourself from every guest list in Settings; while hidden, you don't see other guests either. People you block, and people who block you, don't see each other at all. Your friends see the same details: name, photo and bio, never your email or phone.

In party mode, other guests who have been scanned in at the same party see you in the party room while you have it open: your name as above, the avatar you style, where you walk and sit in the room, the reactions you send, your dance-floor combo and whether you're holding a drink you ordered. This is shared live and isn't stored on our servers; it's gone when you leave party mode. Names and photos in the room come from our servers, not from other guests' phones, so hidden and blocked guests never get yours and don't see you there.

Chats are one to one and only open after you have both poked each other. The other person can see everything you send them. Blocking someone ends the chat.

Hosts and door staff

The host of a party you book, and the staff they add, see the name, email and phone number on your ticket, your ticket type and whether you've arrived. For invite-only parties they also see your request. They may only use this to run their event. If you send a ticket to someone, the host sees the new holder's details instead.

Everyone

Party listings, posters and host-provided event details are public. Your profile is not.

5. Who we share it with

We share personal data only as needed to run Nili:

  • Hosts and their door staff, for parties you book or ask to join, as described above.
  • Service providers who work for us under contract: Supabase (database and sign-in), Vercel (hosting and privacy-friendly analytics), Razorpay (payments, refunds and payouts to hosts), Resend (email) and Google (if you sign in with Google). They may only use your data to provide their service to us.
  • Address search, for hosts: the text you type in a party's address field, and your rounded location if you shared it, goes from our servers to our address search service, Google Maps Platform or Photon by Komoot (a public OpenStreetMap search). It isn't linked to your name or account.
  • Tax authorities, for hosts: the tax we withhold or collect on payouts (TDS and GST TCS) is reported under your PAN and GSTIN, as the law requires.
  • Authorities, when the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety or rights.
  • A buyer or successor, if Nili is sold or merged, who must keep protecting your data as this policy describes.

Some providers store data outside India. Where they do, we rely on the safeguards in our contracts with them and the DPDP Act's rules on transfers.

6. How long we keep it

  • Your account and profile: until you delete your account.
  • Messages, pokes and blocks: until you delete your account, or the other person deletes theirs.
  • Tickets, orders, payments, refunds and host payouts: as long as tax and accounting law requires, usually up to 8 years. After you delete your account, the name and email on tickets for past parties stay on that party's records, and the rest is unlinked from you. A host's payout account link is deleted with their account.
  • Venue partner contacts: while the venue is listed with us, then for as long as the law requires for our records.
  • Logs: for a short period, for security and fixing problems.

7. Your choices and rights

Under the DPDP Act and other Indian law, you can:

  • See and correct your details in your profile and Settings.
  • Get a copy of your data: use “Download my data” in Settings.
  • Delete your account and its data from Settings, after cancelling or sending tickets for upcoming parties.
  • Withdraw consent, for example by hiding from guest lists or opting out of marketing. This doesn't affect what we did before, and some features need the data to work.
  • Ask us about how your data is processed and who we've shared it with.
  • Nominate someone to exercise your rights if you die or can no longer do so yourself.
  • Complain to our Grievance Officer, and if you're not satisfied, to the Data Protection Board of India.

To use a right we haven't built into the app yet, write to privacy@niliparty.app. We may need to check it's really you first.

8. Cookies and similar tech

We use your browser's storage to keep you signed in and to remember small preferences, such as the party you're scanning tickets for. Our analytics are cookie-free and count visits without building a profile of you. We don't use advertising cookies. You can clear this storage in your browser, but you'll be signed out.

9. Security

Your data is sent over encrypted connections, access to it is limited to the people and systems that need it, and only our servers can read chats, pokes and other guests' details. No service is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we'll tell you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires. Please use a strong, unique password.

10. Under-18s

Nili is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it, and we don't knowingly collect data from children. If you think a child has an account, tell us and we'll remove it.

11. Changes to this policy

We'll update this policy when what we collect or how we use it changes. We'll change the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or by email first.

12. Contact and grievances

Privacy questions and requests: privacy@niliparty.app.

Questions or complaints about these pages, your account or a booking can go to support@niliparty.app.

Grievance Officer, grievance@niliparty.app. We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and aim to resolve them within 15 days.
